Progress Report on W.I.P.

Today hasn't been very productive. I got some writing done yesterday and the day before. I've started a brand new story. My current W.I.P is Chronicles of Julia O'Brien (Book One) Still haven't gotten a good title for the first book. I'm finding writing this book is getting out feeling when I lost my best friend who died from cancer. I know this story will be good for those who have lost parents to an illness or disease. I know I want my books to reach those who will relate to the themes in each of them. This will be a series of books. About the main character Julia O'Brien. She is part Irish and part American. Born in America, but raised mainly in England and sometimes in Ireland. she speaks with a very southern British accent.

The Outline:
Julia's mother is dying of cancer. She decides to stop chemotherapy so she can spend time with her daughter. Fiona is Julia's mother. She decides to take her daughter and go to America. She flies them both to Indiana, US. Fiona tells her own mother what she intends to do. She also tells Julia that they are flying to Indiana, USA. Julia hates the idea of leaving the only home she has ever known. Till her mother tells her she was born in America. Fiona also tells her daughter that there is a family who is going to be her new guardians when she dies. This news upsets Julia. SHe finds it hard to understand why she can't stay with her grandmother in Canning Town, England. London had been Julia's home since she could remember. She guessed her mother took her from America to England when she was a baby or toddler.

They land in Indianapolis International Airport. Moira Carpenter meets them at the gate. She has a Silver Dodge Grand Caravan. The minivan is about three years old, but it treated like it's brand spanking new. Julia takes an instant dislike to Moira. She isn't liking she has to accept the fact her mother is dying. This is hard for her as she never knew her father. When Abe tells her he overheard his parents and Fiona talking about Julia's father living near them. This shocks her as her grandmother told her he was dead and not to ask about him. Now she beings thinking maybe she can find him and meet up with him. She had so many questions about why he never was in touch with her or Fiona. She believes maybe her grandmother was the cause of her never having her father in her life.

Slowly Julia gets used to the fact her mother was dying. She also learned that Moira and her family love her to pieces. This is happening slowly at Julia's pace. They also enroll her in grade school. it's where three of the four boys go to school. She then protects Jacob from bullies at school. Getting used to having four brothers when just before her mum dies gets adopted by Moira and Daniel Carpenter. They become her new family. They are firm, but fair parents. Julia finds them a good influence on her negative moods.

After the funeral, Julia finds that The Carpenters are very caring, loving to her. She fights their love at first. After a few months, she accepts their love and begins to call Moira and Daniel, mum and dad. She also relies on the boys to be her friends s well as being her new brothers. She was used to being an only child, now she had four brothers. She had her own room. The Carpenters brought her a laptop and some toys and clothes. She had minimal clothing from England. Now she excepts that she is American. Julia asks Moira if she can find her birth father and meet him. She learns her father is gay and living with a man. Her father was shocked that she was back in the US and doesn't want to know her. He had adopted two children with his partner. They are a family unit. He wants nothing to do with her.

Excerpt:
In the end, it didn’t actually matter? It was only a matter of time. Julia knew deep down she only had a very short time left with her mum. She only had a short time to spend precious time with her mum. Julia watched as her mum slept as they flew all the way from England to America. The flight was making even Julia sleepy. She turned to her book resting on her lap. She had her right palm resting on the book cover. Julia knew it was just a matter of time before she loses her mum forever. It was something she didn’t want to even think about at this point. She had to try thinking positive thoughts. Like the good memories of when she was little or when she her mum and Nana Lily would go to the park or the zoo. Just the thoughts made her become a tad happier.
Just as Julia was about to read her book. The one she carried everywhere she went. She just loved Liz Rettig books. Especially the Kelly Ann diaries. She had most of them. She was reading Rocky Romance one. It was the second time she’d read it. But she loves the book. Julia opened the book to the beginning. Just as a stewardess tapped her on the shoulder with a smile. “Hello, Miss. Would you like something to eat and a drink?” the stewardess asked her.
Julia rubbed her chin to think. “Yes please, I’m wanting something vegetarian please  and a Pepsi.” She told the lady.
“We got vegetarian curry or salad with cheese slices. Which one would you like? We don’t do Pepsi, we do have a cola though. Generic one. Or orange or apple juice or you can have chocolate or plain milk. The choice is yours.” the stewardess told her. Julia smiled at the thought of all those choices.
“I think I’ll have chocolate milk, please. With the curry. I like vegetable curry.” Julia told her. Thinking her mum might also be hungry.
“Does your mother want anything?” Julia was unsure but thought she would.
“Maybe, but she is sleeping right now. She doesn’t like spicy food. What do you have? She might want a coffee though.” Julia said as her mum opened her eyes to see who Julia was speaking with.

Story Update - Forgotten

I have started a new story. Forgotten is a good and edgy story. I feeling this is a story that will help the young who are going through the same problems as I did as a child and teenager. I believe that my main character in this story will help others who have felt forgotten in their own families. This is what I'm all about in this story. letting people know they're not alone in this corrupt life we all live. Just hoping this story speaks to others once it's finished. I have gotten 2000+ today. I believe this story will be the best I've done so far.

Writing this story told me I was helping myself as well as helping others who are going through difficult times in their own families. The thought of being alone and forgotten is what this story is all about. I hope it engages reader around the globe.

Excerpt:
Elton is a boy who is abandoned by his mother into the care of his father and girlfriend. They abuse him from the young age of 5 till he is abandoned at the young age of 13yrs. He tries to know he will never be loved.

He is assigned a social worker and helps Elton find a foster family that will shower him with love, friendship. He learns slowly that there are people who will not hurt him, but help him cope with the abuse and heal his invisible wounds.

He goes through 2 foster homes till he gets a family that will show him the Bible secrets. They are Christians and take him to church. He becomes a believer and they get him counseling and they end up adopting him. They have several foster children they've adopted.

New Project - Story (Life of Jennifer O'Brien - Book 1 Rainbows Way)

I have been writing this story for five day now. Two of those days I didn't get any writing done I'm at 11, 650 words right now. I love writing this story. I just love writing my stories. I lost all my worldly writing on my laptop as it died. I lost five novels I'd written on my laptop. I have a close friend trying to get those files if they can. The mother board is fried so I'm told.

Outline
Jennifer's mother was dying of terminal cancer that chemotherapy and surgery was not going to cure. She was told by her mother that they were going to travel to America so Jennifer's godparents will look after her when her mother id gone. She hated the fact to leave the friends and family she knew to go somewhere she didn't know. She found out from her grandmother she was born in Reading, Indiana. She refused to help her mother pack there things and travel to America.

Without any further ado, Jennifer found herself on a plane to Indianapolis, Indiana. The journey to
Indianapolis was a tiring eight and a half hours of flying. Once they landed in Indianapolis International Airport. Jennifer met Liz Mason, her godmother. She slowly watches her mother slowly dying of cancer that was growing at a fast rate. Her mother got social services to allow the Mason's to adopt her daughter so she would have a family once she was gone.

After her mother's funeral Jennifer found it hard to even be around people. Jenni would not talk to her new friends, the Mason clan or anyone else come to that. She refused to eat anything. All she did was drink water or kool-aid. it was her only way of living for almost three weeks. She totally refused to put any kind of food into her mouth. Liz and John Mason took Jennifer to see a therapist. Soon the therapist got Jennifer into hospital for five days. The hospital got Jennifer to eat finally. Then she was discharged.

She was home with the Mason family. They tried their best to shower Jennifer with all kinds of love and affection. The boys began helping Jennifer adapt to living full-time with them as their sister. The boys also got her to go regularly to church and school. She began flourishing in school with her work improving immensely. Jennifer got better grades in school at Holy Grace, than when she was in school in England. Se always loved the sports teams she was on and made a lot of new friends and became best friends with Tessa Kensley. They became inseparable and her best thing to do was play basketball.

Soon Jennifer had everyone calling her Jenni and not Jennifer. She become a good role model for other girls who was a result of a child who had a parent die of cancer or another terminal illness. She slowly warmed to calling John Dad. She began slowly with Liz. She called her Ma'am not Mum. She felt if she did she would be betraying  her Mum if she called Liz Mum.

Camp NaNoWriMo Update

It's been a tough time writing this Camp NaNoWriMo. I think it's due to not being motivated and not being able to progress with my story. I think it might help if I got out and wrote somewhere else. I think maybe in time I can finish this story by 30th July. I know I want to move forward and finish this WIP. I just not sure I have the inspiration or motivation right now. It's just I am not getting tit to flow the last few days. I got to chapter 3.

I got a word count is - 4,613 words thus far. I know I got to reach 25000 by 30th July. That is my goal.If I do not move forward I will be letting myself down, plus I will be telling myself I haven't got the gift any longer to write these storie4s I have inside my head. I get the idea, but nothing more. I hate when it gets this hard to write. I feel so alive and free when I'm writing. Right now feeling so depressed because I'm not getting the chapter started.

I feeling  that I need help getting chapter 3 off the ground. the other two chapters came out right after the 4th July. Now it's  the 11th July and I'm stuck in a rut right now. I need to get this back on track. If only I had my partner out here helping me. They are great at inspiring me with my stories. I have written 4 novel this far. One in my first year. The others three were November NaNoWriMo winners. If only I could get this going again would be fantastic.

Just need someone to give me a good starting point for chapter 3. Need help....

Three Line that will help yo write better

Just as you would approach an agent or editor you should try to wrap up your idea in a paragraph. Here are some points you can consider:

  1. You need a title. Write your working title in big letters at the top of the page. You can even make a mock-up of your cover. It’s inspirational.
  2. Who, what and why? You need a character, start with them and the inciting moment. The inciting moment gives you a goal and that conflict will give you an antagonist.
  3. When, where and how? If you are writing sci-fi or historical fiction, this question becomes even more important, but you should pick a moment in time and then tell me how all of this is going to happen.
Consider this:
[Character’s name] + [inciting moment] + [story goal] leads to [intriguing question]
For example: Paint It Black by Janet Fitch

Josie’s boyfriend commits suicide. She wants to find out why, but that means dealing with his crazy controlling mother. Should Josie let herself be lured into a life of riches by the woman who destroyed the man she loved?

In short ask yourself, who wants to do what and why? Then print it out, stick it to your wall and when in doubt go back and ask yourself if you are answering the question.

NaNoWriMo Update - Day 10

It's the tenth day for NaNoWriMo. I am planing on writing some today. I wrote over 3,000 yesterday. I am way ahead of schedule. My story is flowing like the wind. Just love the way my story is growing into a good novel. I still think I should've written it in 3rd person. 1st person is easy for me I know. I just think if I wrote in 3rd person it would be a better story. Will write my next story in 3rd person.

Right now I need to feed myself and get some writing done. I know I'm going out writing with Theresa tomorrow, just need to write today though. My headache is turning into a migraine. Need to make sure I write no matter what I feel like. I have to keep my word count ahead of schedule. Just feeling so alive when I'm writing my story. This is going to be a scorcher of a story. Jade feels like I would if I was her. Jade is the protagonist/MC in my story. She is such a loving character. Just got to know where she is coming from.

Day Four - NaNoWriMo - November 2014

It's NaNoWriMo again. This means it's November 2014 and I'm working on my next novel for NaNoWriMo. I think this is the time to get these novels written. I have done my first three days. On day one I got 2500+ done, day two I got 1700+ done. Third day I got hardly nothing written. Now on day four I've done so much already and going out with a friend to write tonight. Just know writing is my thing. I love writing and writing is the only good thing I'm good at.

Just this year I plan on dedicating this novel to my late departed mother-in-law. She was someone who inspired me to write along with my partner. they are both my muse for writing. My mother-in-law has been gone for a few years now. I miss her smiling face. Her words of wisdom. They are both good things I remember about her. She would phone me most days to check up on me. She would always ask about my writing. How it was going, what I was writing so on. Now I don't have that at all. I miss her so much.

Now day four. I plan on getting up to 10,000 tonight or sometime tomorrow. I know I can write this story. It's a good story to be writing. I have called this one Chronicles of Jade Foxx. This is going to be a series I plan on writing. It's on one of my pages to the right. Just read up about it. You are sure to like the story and the start I have for this one. I will be updating this blog throughout the whole of this month. I know I can make a BIG splash one day. Just trying to remember that my mother-in-law is watching me from above.

Camp NaNo - Progress - Day 6

It's been six days since Camp-NaNo started. I got off track since I was terribly ill yesterday. I need to catch my word count up big time. I think the story I'm writing is going to be a big sell in the stores. I am working on editing my first story while I'm writing my fifth. I have been writing and researching this story for two years now. It's in memory of my deceased mother-in-law. She was more of a mother/mom to me than my own mother was.

I think she will be reading this story as I write it up in heaven. She told me like my father-in-law says I'm an excellent writer. It makes me proud to write this story in honor of her kindness and love for me and caring for what I loved to do. She is so special, even though she is up in heaven. I believe she is min my heart and up there cheering me on as I write my stories.

NaNoWriMo - Day Eight

It's been a hard eight days of writing. I haven't done much. Only hit 13,500 words last night. I believe if I can believe in myself I can write this story and give it good justice. I picked this type of story due to some news hitting my area. Bullying is what my story is about. I was bullied as a child and teenager. Still got bullied by close family and friends. I felt the world needs to do something about bullying in schools. Even in Catholic and Christian schools you get bullied in. There is many ways of getting bullied.

I have a close friend, who's daughter was bullied not only in school but on media too. This means Emails, Media outlets like MySpace, Tumbler, Twitter, Facebook and others like these. Plus, through text messages and kids leaving messages in your school locker. Some teachers ignore it and let it carry on. Others will stop it. You can get bullied by your teachers as well as peers. You have to watch who you talk to everywhere. Bullies hide is all forms in this world.

I'm a Christian and Catholic. I believe even at church you can be bullied and ignored. You should try and look out for these sorts of people. Don't let them get at you. If you need to talk to anyone, tell your parents first, then a teacher you can trust. If you get bullied online, distance yourself from that source. You need to first protect yourself, then you can help others in your same situation.

REMEMBER: God is there for you. Ask for his help. Ask for him to enter your heart and soul. He will send his Holy Spirit and Jesus to help you. Believe in them and you can be safe almost anywhere. He is there for you all.

Workshop Experience

First Workshop

The first workshop I'd been to was an experience i savored and it was good. I found talking about what I liked about someone's story and what could be improved was a learning experience. I got feedback on my first lesbian short story. It was good to know what I could improve on and what was good. I always like to know what I could improve on my writing. I just find as I'm still writing, I will still keep writing.

  • Learned to take critiques and not just them hating my work
  • Write to improve my work
  • Plan out a story with my story template
I think writing is my thing. Just have to learn to improve and take people critiques of my work with a grain of salt. Not to take it as a bad thing. To take it as a way of learning to improve my work and hopefully get something published. I love writing and will continue to write no matter what.

Update: Valley of Echoes

The day is Thursday 10th January. I have been writing on my story for almost three months now. I started it during NaNoWriMo. Now it is almost done. I have learned a lot from writing this story. It started out as a easy project. It ended up being really hard to get down onto paper. It taught me that I am stronger for writing it. I suffered a hell of a lot of abuse under the watchful hands of many of my biological family members. I now know that I'm in a better place for writing this story. One day I'll get it out there to the youth of today.

I want to let the youth that God is there for them. They didn't, aren't and will not suffer in vain. He is there watching over them and guiding his angels to be by your sides. Just allow him to help and guide you. I found God late in life, but knew he was always there for me. Plus, you can contact the social services and know that they are there to listen, and help you get away from your abusers. I know this now. I never when I was undergoing the abuse.

Don't go through it alone. You have resources out there for you to contact and get help from. I know they are there. I talked with some social workers, therapists and counselors too. You need them to help you get away from those who hurt and neglect you. Get and seek the right help.
